Duke Energy Foundation, Mary Black Foundation, and the Coalition for Active Youth announced an additional $77,000 for the bike park, which is the next phase of The Rail Yard. Thanks to these commitments, construction should begin in the first quarter of 2019.

Marshall Rogers rolled up his sleeves and got to work Saturday planting 15 trees behind Total Ministries along South Pine Street. He's a member of Boy Scout Troop 2 based out of First Presbyterian Church in Spartanburg. Rogers decided after a recent trip to London to plant the trees as part of his Eagle Scout service project.

The 14th annual GHS Turkey Day 8K was held Thanksgiving morning in downtown Spartanburg, hosting thousands of runners. Officials say around 2,000 runners were out for the start of the race which began at the corner of Main and Spring Streets and ended at the Daniel Morgan Statue.

Partners for Active Living’s latest project behind Spartanburg High School caught the eye of reader Harold Nixon, who saw the tree clearing around River Birch Trail. While it may look like a road it being built, PAL Executive Director Laura Ringo said the old trail is being repaired.

Panthers Play 60 is described as a cross between an NFL Combine and American Ninja Warrior. It includes a timed 40-yard dash, a traverse wall, floating boards and other obstacles to challenge children’s agility. There are less than 20 of these parks in the country.
