Partners for Active Living (PAL) is seeking nominations for the 2015-16 Spartanburg Healthy Schools Project. Thanks to funding from Mary Black Foundation, Milliken Foundation, and United Way of the Piedmont, PAL will award five (5) schools in Spartanburg County to pilot healthier school environments that promote physical activity and healthy eating among students and staff. Using the Alliance for a Healthier Generation Schools Framework, the winning schools will participate in creating a school wellness council, conduct assessments of current policies and practices, develop customized action plans to implement, and receive $500 to create healthy change in the school environment. PAL will support with resources, including staff support, technical assistance, and educational trainings. Schools will be publically recognized and celebrated for their efforts.

To apply, please fill out the application and attachments and submit via email (rparrish@active-living.org), by fax (864-542-2283), or mail (Spartanburg Healthy Schools Project, PO Box 6728, Spartanburg, SC 29304). Nominations must be received by April 30, 2015 at 5pm. Schools will be notified of acceptance on or before May 29, 2015, and announced at the Healthy Schools Summit on June 4, 2014. A school representative MUST attend the Healthy Schools Summit on June 4, 2015.
